Meta catalogue: your shop products on Facebook and Instagram
How the product feed works, what to check before connecting it and why catalogue and tracking settings are different.
Prepare the products before connecting
The catalogue uses your shop data. Review titles, descriptions, images, prices and stock before sending them to an advertising platform. An incomplete description does not become clearer simply because it appears in an ad.
Choose Advertise on Meta in the product editor. Only selected products enter the feed. This lets you start with a small, prepared range and expand it later.
Choose a connection method
The Meta catalogue screen offers automatic connection using a Meta Business ID and a suitable access token. It creates a catalogue, a daily feed and product sets by category. Meta’s business and token-permission requirements must be met.
For manual setup, create a catalogue in Commerce Manager and add the feed link as its data source. Choose one approach and check the result before creating a second catalogue for the same products.
Distinguish a change from a refresh
You change the product in ZweiHost, and Meta reads the feed on a schedule. There can be a delay between those actions. If the catalogue price looks old, check the latest fetch and the errors reported by Meta.
After category or product changes, use re-sync when needed for the connected catalogue. Check several real items, including a variant and an out-of-stock product, instead of assuming that a successful connection guarantees correct data.
Catalogue and tracking have different jobs
The catalogue describes what you sell. Pixel and Conversions API report events and have separate settings under Analytics and tracking. A connected catalogue alone does not mean purchases are being measured correctly.
Before a campaign, check both the product data and the relevant event setup. Neither the feed nor automatic connection promises ad approval or a particular number of sales.
Frequently asked questions
