Campaigns & discounts

Run sales with countdowns, was/now prices, bulk discounts, a site-wide announcement bar, and a checkout-page notice.

Campaigns help you run promotions - a countdown banner, discounts, and struck-through "was" prices. They're set at site level and at category level.

What it is

A campaign is a promotional layer over your catalogue. It can include:

  • A countdown banner to the end of the promotion - it requires a background image.
  • A bulk discount percentage off the products.

You can add a background image to the campaign - it becomes the main header of the products page. Choose how it displays:

  • Show whole image (default) - the entire picture, never cropped, at full width; the section grows to its height.
  • Crop to fill - the picture is cropped to a fixed-height band.
  • Fit with backdrop - the whole picture in a fixed-height band, with the empty sides filled by a blurred backdrop of the image itself.

Beyond the display mode you can also pick the banner's frame separately for desktop and for phone - real ratios like "21:9 - cinematic" or "4:5 - portrait", not abstract names. "Auto" keeps the display mode's own behaviour. The frame sets the band's SHAPE; the display mode decides how the picture fills it.

Optionally upload a separate phone image too - a wide desktop banner rarely survives being cropped into a tall mobile frame. Without one, phones show the background image.

Types of discount

  • Campaign discount - a percentage off every product in the campaign's scope.
  • Product compare-at price - a struck-through "was" price on a specific product.

Discounts don't stack

The best price for the customer is applied - the larger of the two, never the sum.

Site vs category

  • A site campaign applies to every product.
  • A campaign on a product's primary category replaces the site campaign, even with a smaller percentage.
  • A campaign on any other category of the product (an extra, smart or parent category) applies to it only when it gives a bigger discount. It never lowers the discount the product already gets.
  • A product in several categories with campaigns gets the biggest of their discounts.
  • A category campaign with only a banner (no percentage) does not stop the site discount.
  • A hidden category (and the subcategories hidden with it) gives no campaign discount until you show it again.

The discount is the same in the catalogue, on the product page, in the cart and in the order. Automatic % promotions apply on top of the campaign price and show in the catalogue and the cart too.

So you can run a general promotion and boost it in one category.

Setting it up

  1. Open the campaign. For the whole site: the Categories hub. For one category: that category's own products page.
  2. Turn on what you need - the countdown, the bulk discount, or both.
  3. Save.

The countdown needs an image

The countdown banner won't save without a background image - add one before you press Save.

Campaigns and bundles

A campaign lowers product prices, and with them the price of a fixed-price bundle's products bought separately. If the new discount makes an active bundle no cheaper than its products bought separately, a window lists those bundles before it saves - with the bundle's price and the price of its products separately. Choose Save anyway or Cancel. The bundles are not paused and stay active - adjust their price in Bundles if you want.

Tips

  • One clear promotion works better than several overlapping ones.
  • Use the countdown for a real end date to create urgency.
  • Check on the live site how the was/now prices look before you announce it.

Announcement bar

Your site also has an announcement bar - a ticker at the top of every page on your site. Add up to 4 short messages and they scroll slowly from right to left.

  • Each message has text per active language - visitors see their own.
  • Set it up in Site editor → Store → Announcement bar (see Site editor), on the draft: shoppers see the change once you publish it. You can set the speed (seconds per loop), the spacing between messages, and optionally fade the bar edges (off by default). The messages scroll fully continuously, with no reset.

Checkout page notice

The checkout page notice shows one short message with an icon above the checkout form - for a campaign, a promotion or important info (e.g. "Official BOX NOW partner - free delivery until the end of November"). Set it up in the Site editor, on the "Checkout" page.

  • Turn on Show the checkout notice, pick an icon from the list, and write the text for each active language - the customer sees their own (with no translation, the default language's text is shown).
  • The change goes into the draft: you see it in the preview, and shoppers see it after "Publish". The notice appears only when it's enabled and has text. Put the promotion's date in the text itself - there's no separate schedule.

Next step

Your sale is announced on the site. Now tell the people who aren't on it right now - see Newsletter.
