Why customers choose lockers

BOX NOW lockers run around the clock, with no queues and no opening hours. The customer collects the parcel whenever it suits them - on the way home, in the evening or at the weekend - with a code from their phone. For the shop that means fewer failed deliveries and happier customers, especially in the bigger cities.

There is a practical advantage for you as well: a parcel sitting in a locker does not come back because “the customer was not home”. A failed delivery to an address costs a two-way parcel and usually a second attempt; with a locker the customer simply goes later. That is why lockers usually see a lower rate of returned parcels than address delivery.

The limit is size. A locker is a box, so the parcel has to fit a compartment - for bulky or heavy goods BOX NOW is simply not an option and you need to offer an address courier as well. If you sell small items - cosmetics, accessories, jewellery, clothing - the limit is barely felt.

Paying on collection at the locker

There is a difference here worth knowing in advance: the lockers take no cash. What BOX NOW calls наложен платеж in Bulgaria is a card payment link the customer receives after dispatch and pays before collecting. For the customer it feels the same - they pay on receipt - but the mechanics are card, not cash.

That has a direct tax consequence. With a courier licensed for postal money transfers, its receipt stands in for the fiscal one; BOX NOW holds no such licence for this service, so the obligation to document the sale stays with you. It is not an obstacle - it is simply something to have sorted before you launch, and it is set out in the separate fiscal-device guide.

The rest works as it does with any other courier. The waybill with the locker address, the weight and the amount is generated automatically with the order, labels print in batches, and the amounts are reconciled against the orders automatically - you see which parcels are paid without checking spreadsheets by hand.

BOX NOW in your shop’s checkout

At checkout BOX NOW shows up as a locker delivery option. Lockers load from the courier’s live directory and appear on a map, so the customer picks the one nearest to them. Customers with an account can save their favourite locker and order faster next time.

BOX NOW is locker-only - there is no delivery to an address or to an office. Which is why almost no shop enables it alone: it works best beside an address courier, so the customer can choose. If you offer only a locker, you exclude everyone who lives far from one or is ordering something bulky.

Pricing is the other difference. BOX NOW offers no live-rate service, so delivery is priced from your own table - you set what customers pay, optionally by region, and that is the price they see. The other couriers can quote live, though you can use a fixed table with them too if you prefer predictability.

Then switch on locker delivery and, if you like, keep Econt, Speedy and Pigeon Express as extra options. If you don’t have an account yet, signing up with BOX NOW is quick, and until then you try the whole flow in test mode.

Two things are set once and forgotten: where your parcels leave from, and what you charge for delivery. Because BOX NOW does not quote live, the rate table is required - until you enter it the courier simply does not appear at checkout, rather than showing up at zero or at a wrong price.
