Customers

Browse customer data, export it, process GDPR deletion requests, and see product favourites with full pricing and stock detail.

The Customers screen brings together the people who buy from, book with, or contact you - whether they have a registered account or ordered as a guest. It's its own sidebar group with six pages: Customer data, Business clients, Delete requests (GDPR), Favourites, Inquiries, and Messages. This guide covers data, delete requests and favourites; for business clients see Business clients, for the others see Inquiries and Messages.

Customer data

A table of all your customers (registered and guests). For each you see name, email, type (registered/guest), order count, and amount spent. You will also see people with 0 orders - these are newsletter subscribers: when someone consents to marketing (through the pop-up, for example) we create a record holding just their email (and name, if given) so we can issue them a personal discount code. Such a record has no password and cannot sign in; if that person later registers or orders, we fill in the same record rather than creating a second one. If they unsubscribe from marketing and have no orders and no registration, the record is deleted automatically. Filter by email, customer ID, name, minimum orders, or minimum spend. The Export button downloads a JSON file with everything we hold about that customer (for GDPR access requests).

On the Business plan every customer with an account also carries a Make a business client button - for the companies you invoice once a month instead of once per order. Marked customers show a Business client badge; their settings live under Business clients.

Delete requests (GDPR)

This is where you process data-deletion requests. Two sections:

  • Registered customers - customers who clicked "Delete my data" in their account on your site. Click Delete on the row, confirm, and their data is permanently erased. (On higher plans this happens automatically; only cases where the automatic deletion failed appear here, so you can retry.)
  • Guest customers - for a customer with no account, enter their email and click Check. Their row appears with a Delete button.

On every deletion, orders and invoices are kept unchanged because tax law requires you to retain them. The rest of their personal data is removed: the account, saved addresses and courier offices, conversations, personal discount codes, abandoned carts, inquiries and back-in-stock requests, and the contact details on their bookings are blanked. If the customer subscribed to your newsletter, they are unsubscribed: only the email address stays, marked as unsubscribed, so they are not mailed again if you later import a subscriber list. This cannot be undone.

Favourites

A list of the products your customers have favourited, ranked by count. Each row shows the full product picture so you can decide quickly whether to promote it:

  • the product's image and category;
  • Price - the current price (for products with variants this reads "from" + the cheapest variant's price);
  • Was and Discount - if the product is marked down;
  • Cost and Margin - what it costs you and what you make (for your eyes only, never shown to customers);
  • Stock - total units (summed across variants; zero is highlighted in red);
  • Variants - how many variants the product has;
  • Favorites - how many customers added it.

A megaphone icon next to the name means the product is in your Meta catalog. Expand a row to see exactly which customers favourited it - in a table with one column per value, so you know what each means: their Orders count, amount Spent, Avg. order, total Favourites, Profit (revenue minus cost of goods across their orders), and ROI (profit ÷ cost of goods, %). This lets you tell a loyal high-value fan apart from a one-time browser. Profit and ROI only show when the orders carry recorded cost. Use the Edit product link to run a promotion or make a change. Only registered customers can favourite products.

Each product also has a Bulk email button. It opens an email editor (the same one as in Email notifications), pre-filled with that product and the "Favourite on sale" template. You can pick a promo code from an existing promotion, edit the wording, and send the email to the customers who favourited the product - only those who opted in to marketing (so the real recipient count can be lower than the total favourites). Editing here never changes the saved template, and the sends count toward your monthly marketing-email limit (shared with the newsletter). Beyond this manual button, ZweiHost also sends an automatic daily digest: when a customer's favourited product goes on sale, they get an email (once per sale). It's driven by the "Favourite on sale" template in Email notifications.

What the customer sees in their account

If the Customer accounts add-on is on, every registered customer gets their own area on your site. There is nothing to configure - it assembles itself from the data you already have. Customers reach it from the profile icon in your site's header: a signed-in customer goes straight to their account, while a guest gets a sign-in and registration panel; signing in from that panel (or with Google/Facebook) also lands them in their account. It opens on Overview: a greeting, the latest order with a parcel-tracking rail ("Accepted → Shipped → At the courier office → Delivered"), and small cards for their default address or courier office, their favourites, and their issued invoices. The invoices card offers the latest invoice to download. For a business client with summary invoices it shows how many there are, opens Invoices and names the most pressing thing about them: an overdue invoice, a due date or, with nothing unpaid, when the latest was paid (or issued). Alongside it (a list, on a phone) are Orders, Addresses, Favourites, Reviews and Profile & privacy - plus Invoices for a business client who has been issued a summary invoice.

On an order's page the customer downloads their invoice. If you annulled an invoice of the order (see "Annulling and issuing a new invoice" in Orders), the page also has an Invoice card: the valid invoice and what it replaces, and under it the annulled one - marked as annulled, with Download the annulled invoice and Annulment protocol links. The protocol is offered to every customer, not only to a company. After Annul the card says the order has no valid invoice.

Two of those depend on your add-ons: Reviews only appears if you run the reviews add-on, and reviews are still written from the order page - this tab is just where the customer sees their own and whether each is published, being checked, or rejected.

Under Favourites the customer sees their saved products as the same product cards they see in your shop - photo, badges, was/now price. They can add one straight to the cart from there; if the product has sizes or colours the button takes them to its page to choose a variant instead (we never pick a size for them). If a product is sold out, the button is replaced by "Notify me when available" and the customer gets an email as soon as you restock it. The heart beside the button is always shown - that is how they remove a product from favourites. Which card layout is used here is set in the site editor, "Store" › "Product cards" › "Account favourites card".

If the customer hasn't opted in to marketing yet, a consent box sits on the Overview. It has no "not now" - it stays until they agree, and it is the only place besides checkout where we ask. On agreeing they immediately see their welcome code, if you configured one in Settings → Emails → Automated codes; if you didn't, the box simply thanks them and shows no code.
